After about three months of training on a Stand Up Paddle board, I entered my first race in the 7 Mile Elite Division of the Seaside Celebration Race. It was a lot of fun and I ate a huge piece (if not the entire cake) of humble pie. The truth is, it's not about winning or losing (that what people who don't win say), but trying something completely new and challenging, knowing that you may fail to hit the mark. The true mark of perseverance is actually GETTING out there and doing something out of your comfort zone. This simple rule is often forgotten when we fall into our "ruts" of every day life. It is difficult to try new things when they are uncomfortable and sometimes unknown. I say take the plunge this week. Go out and do something that is out of your comfort zone.
